Earn an extra £1,500 by completing the Stepladder of Achievement

The Stepladder of Achievement is a tailor made programme of six steps created by the Share Foundation for young people in care aged 15 to 17 years to develop life skills for employment, higher education or training, and for living independently.

What are the Six Steps?

  1. Literacy - reading and writing up to functional skill level 2 £150
  2. Numeracy - handling numbers up to functional skill level 2 £150
  3. Financial Capability 1 - basic money sense £200
  4. Plan for the Future - 250 words on your plans for the future £250
  5. Financial Capability 2 - an 8 week radio course with lots of money info £350
  6. Mentoring - securing future education. employment, training or sustaining one or more of them with individual help £400

Completing all of the steps you can earn an additional £1,500 in your Child Trust Fund account!

  • Learn how to budget and manage your money as well as life skills
  • Plan for the future - and consider becoming a mentor for the Stepladder of Achievement programme yourself!
  • Get access to guidance and support if required and available.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Celebrated your 15th birthday but not your 18th
  • Been a looked after child for over a year
  • Have active Junior ISA or Child Trust Fund under the Government scheme
